Indoor training season is now, the place is here!

Would you like to improve your fitness over the winter? Here at Blue Sky, we are riding Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri evenings from 6 til 7:45 pm.
All you really need is a bike, a trainer, and the will to start. A heart rate monitor, and bike computer with rear wheel speed and cadence sensors is very useful, too.
I know from personal experience that riding the “nowhere bike” in the basement, etc. is one of the easiest ways to make time virtually stand still! Having a few friends around, all with the same goal of getting and / or staying fit, transforms the chore into fun!
UNLIKE A SPINNING CLASS, where every session is based on beating the crap out of yourself, a good program should address pedalling technique and efficiency, progressive increases in intensity, and active recovery rides, among other aspects. Improving your fitness and power comes from stressing a system, active recovery, and gradually increasing the intensity of the work. Some days (one or 2 per week) SHOULD be tough, but other days, active recovery actually benefits you much more!
Usually,SPIN CLASS sessions are intentionally tough every time, to let the customer feel they got their moneys’ worth out of the session, no matter if you came once or twice a month, or daily, it’s usually high intensity effort. If you don’t get enough recovery time between sessions, you may not get the full benefit from the work!
Consider joining in, nobody gets left behind, you work at your own level, and knowing that the others will be there helps keep you motivated and honest with yourself. Also having a different program keeps things interesting, and with the constant changes in intensity, cadence, speed, etc. it helps the time pass by way faster than solo sessions in front of the TV.
Also, a lot of folks think ” I need to get in shape before I start”, or “Those guys are too advanced for me”, or something. Well, how about “I need to start, to get in shape”? We’re all at different places and levels, so don’t let that kind of thinking keep you away.
So call or stop in soon. I think you’ll get a lot out of it. Bill Gibson.
